(Low-Carb High-Quality) – The faux potato casserole visually differs little from the conventional potato casserole, but just like the original dish the taste is an absolute highlight. This recipe shows how to make a kohlrabi casserole that surpasses its original in every way.

We wish you a lot of fun cooking, cheers Andy & Diana.

  • 3 kohlrabis
  • 1 l water
  • salt
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. curry powder
  • 200 g heavy cream
  • 200 g crème fraîche
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • pepper to taste
  • 100 g diced cottage ham (optional)
  • 150 g grated Gouda
  • 3 kohlrabis
  • 2.1 pt water
  • salt
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. curry powder
  • 7.1 oz heavy cream
  • 7.1 oz crème fraîche
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • pepper to taste
  • 3.5 oz diced cottage ham (optional)
  • 5.3 oz grated Gouda

Preheat oven to 180°C / 355°F (circulating air) or 200°C / 390°F (top / bottom heat).

Remove the green parts, slice the kohlrabi and put it in a saucepan. The green of the kohlrabi is edible and you can use it for another recipe but it's no longer needed for this one.

Fill the pot with water and season the kohlrabi with salt, 1 tsp. of nutmeg and the curry to get the potato-yellow color.

Cover the pot and cook the kohlrabi slices until firm.

Mix the sauce by mixing the heavy cream with the crème fraîche, the other teaspoon of nutmeg, the thyme and some pepper to taste, then stir the ingredients with a whisk.

Spread the cream mix evenly over the bottom of a casserole dish and distribute the pre-cooked and drained kohlrabi slices on top.

Add the diced cottage ham and grated Gouda over the kohlrabi slices.

Bake the casserole in oven for about 40 minutes until the cheese is nicely crispy. Enjoy! 🙂
