First you need cheese, either in one piece or sliced. We used Gouda cheese for our low-carb cheese pops.

Cut the cheese into small squares or cubes.

Cheese slices have the advantage that they are thinner than cheese cubes and thus dry much faster.

Important: The cheese must be completely dried! The cheese becomes hard when it is dry. Non-dried cheese does not puff properly, it only tends to become chewy.

Cover the cheese cubes or the cheese squares with kitchen paper and let the cheese dry at room temperature. The cubes take about 4 days, the cheese squares from the slices are already dry after 48 hours.

When the cheese is dry, preheat your oven to 220°C / 430°F (circulating air) or 240°C / 465°F (top / bottom heat).

Distribute the dried pieces of cheese with enough space in between on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Put the baking tray into the preheated oven for about 3 minutes.

The best thing to do is to stop for a while in front of the oven and watch the pieces of cheese pop.

Take out the cheese pops after everything popped.

Important: Do not let the cheese pops turn brown, they will be bitter. The nice cheese yellow is the best color for the low-carb cheese pops.

If you like, season your cheese pops with paprika or your favorite spices. 🙂
